On behalf of the Coastlab 2010 Organizing and Scientific Committees we have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the 3rd International Conference Coastlab dealing with the Application of Physical Modelling to Port and Coastal Protection. Following the successful previous two editions, held in Porto and Bari, this time Coastlab will take place in Barcelona, a dynamic and representative city of the Mediterranean way of living.

The main purpose of this Conference is to provide a forum to present and discuss about developments in the field of physical modelling applied to coastal and port engineering, with attendees coming from all over the world. The Conference is a show window, where up-to-date research activities, engineering solutions and innovations are presented and critically assessed, including the intercomparison of physical and numerical modelling tools. A characteristic feature of the Coastlab series has been the simultaneous scientific, engineering and industrial participation, enhancing exchanges between academia and industry.

We are sure that the atmosphere of Barcelona will provide a stimulating environment for good work and companionship of scientists, engineers and students. By attending the conference, and hopefully adding some extra days with a great variety of possibilities for sightseeing and recreation in and outside Barcelona, you will be able to exchange scientific ideas, obtain information about new developments and innovations, extend your research and business activities and confirm international friendship in a charming and pleasant atmosphere.
